Important Dates & Times

 

 

National History Day Northeast PA Region 2 Competition will be held at the University of Scranton on Saturday, April 6, 2019. 

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will advance to the State competition.

 

Important Dates for 2019 Competition:

February 1, 2019-March 10, 2019: Regional Contest Registration (Fee is $5)

March 10, 2019: Website lockout at 11:59pm, Papers due via email (nhdparegion2@gmail.com)

April 6,  2019: Regional Contest held at the University of Scranton

May 10-11, 2019: PA State Contest held at Carlisle High School

June 9-13, 2019: National Contest held at the University of Maryland

BEFORE you begin the registration process , please gather the following:
  • teacher's name, email, and phone number (e.g., school office number)
  • the complete title of your project
  • the name(s) of your group members (if applicable)
  • the student's name, email (or parent's email, if applicable), and home address
  • and your projected graduation year (i.e. 2020)

 

Teachers register before their students, so that way, when the students register, they can be linked to their teacher’s account

Each student MUST register online individually, even if participating in a group project. Parental consent is required to participate in NHD.

After you complete the eletronic form, you will receive an email confirmation to the email address you provided.  If you choose to mail in your registration payment as opposed to paying online, you will receive and print out an invoice form and mail it with your registration.

Parental consent is required to participate in NHD. A parent or guardian MUST provide a signature for the student during the online registration process

If a teacher is registering multiple students, one form should be completed for EACH student entering the contest, regardless of whether they are completing an individual or group project. If your school is paying the registration fee, you may send one check with all the necessary invoice forms in the same envelope.  For example, if a teacher is registering five students, and chooses to mail in the payment, they will send in five invoice forms and one $25 check.

Remember, you will also have the option, when you register online, to pay your $5 registration fee online. 


Please print out your invoice and mail it and your registration payment, if you did not pay it online ($5 per student), and send it to:

PLEASE REMEMBER TO COMPLETE All THE ONLINE REGISTRATION FORMS. Incomplete registrations will not be processed.

If you have not yet volunteered, but are interested, please contact us at nhdparegion2@gmail.com,  we will have a judge's workshop on Monday, March 4 2019 in the Loyola Science Center 133 (PNC Auditorium) at the University of Scranton campus

We will provide you with information about which category you will be judging prior to History Day so you have time to review the information.

To All Volunteers for the NHD Region-2 Event at the University of Scranton

 

Thank you for expressing interest in wanting to take part in this amazing event!  There are a number of different volunteer positions available, from campus guides to competition monitors to judges' assistants.  A few pointers:

1. Volunteering for the National History Event on Saturday April 6 2019 will take up much of the day, from 8 am to roughly 4 pm.

2. When you register, please let us know what kind of volunteer tasks you would prefer, we will try to accomodate you.

3. Let us know your T-Shirt size as this will be an essential part of "uniform" of the day identifying you as a volunteer
